Chris Knox Foundation Sending 13 Special Recipients to 99th Grey Cup
Monday November 14, 2011 (Regina, SK) The Chris Knox Foundation is extremely pleased to be sending 13 special guests and 13 family members to Vancouver to attend the 2011 Grey Cup.

“We’re so excited to be able to make these wonderful memories for our special recipients and their families,” said George Yannitsos, CKF chairman. “All of this is possible due to the generosity of our great Saskatchewan corporations and equally as important, our generous individual donors.”

This will be the 3rd Grey Cup trip the foundation will have organized since the memorable 2007 Grey Cup trip that sent Chris and 10 other special guests to Toronto. “I am very proud of our foundation being able to continue the legacy that started 4 years ago,” said Sharla Folk, Chris’s mother. “It is an overwhelming feeling to think that with this year’s group, close to 50 very brave and special kids and young adults and 50 family members will have had the opportunity to attend this great Canadian event.”

The trip will originate from Saskatoon on Friday, November 25 and upon arrival in Vancouver, the special guests and family members will enjoy participating in the Grey Cup Parade, a tour of Vancouver and attending the 99th Grey Cup on Sunday, November 27. The 13 recipients will be equally representative of the entire province, approximately half from the southern region and half from the northern region.

“This is the first year that our Grey Cup trip won’t have our beloved Riders in the big game.” said Yannitsos. “Our recipients and their families are courageously battling cancer and it is a sad reality that we can’t wait to only attend Grey Cups when the Riders are in. That is why we made the decision to try and send our special guests every year.”

Before losing his battle to cancer, Chris Knox won Saskatchewan’s heart with his devotion to the Saskatchewan Roughriders and their 2007 Grey Cup run. The Chris Knox Foundation is an organization which helps young Saskatchewan cancer patients attend events; giving these young people a much-deserved reprieve and creating happy memories with their families.
